Coaching
Backed by 13 years of experience, Sage Sending coaching helps anyone who is facing challenges in their sport by emphasizing self-compassion and Stoicism, and customizing physical and technical training. I love coaching remotely and teaching clinics to help others be the best athletes possible.
I firmly believe everyone has the capacity to take charge of their mental performance (and physical training) to improve their climbing. I hear time and time again from folks I have helped that I changed their life, and that they can finally enjoy climbing again thanks to the work we did together. I'd love to help you, too.
Most common pathway for my 1-on-1 remote athletes:
Free 15 minute phone consultation. Discuss your background and goals. Learn about your custom coaching options, and ask questions.
A custom training plan. Once I understand your needs, I will craft you a custom plan for your climbing and strength training. This is a one time fee, with ongoing support for modifications included.
Mindset/mental performance calls. After you’re set with a training plan, we can dive in to everything else: mindset topics, mental training strategies, technique and movement analysis (from videos), technical drills, goal setting, and more. These calls are where we can really explore the specifics of your climbing. I see this as a kind of holistic mentorship process, where we focus on exactly what you need to get what you want out of climbing.
We also do check-ins on your training plan and make updates as needed. There is an hourly fee for calls. Typically, clients choose to do 1 hour every 2 weeks or so, with text support between calls. I’m flexible on pricing and scheduling — I want to help as many climbers as I can.
Note: I also offer mindset/mental performance training for athletes from other sports. The principles are universal and I’d love to help you reach your goals. Read testimonials below.
In-person private coaching at Contact Climbing Gym in St. George, UT.
After working with me remotely, many athletes choose to pursue in-person sessions as a supplement to level up their training. It’s common for clients to visit for 1-2 days for intensive sessions where we can make rapid progress on technique, movement, pacing, strategy, and training.

About Me / My Coaching Resume
Hi! I’m Fallon Rowe, the owner of Sage Sending Climbing Coaching. I’ve been climbing since 2003. I competed in climbing from 2004-2016, and I've been coaching climbing since 2013. I’ve coached multiple competitive youth teams, a collegiate team, and dozens of adult athletes through clinics and my private coaching. I also have my NASM Mental Toughness Certification, and I’m pursuing a graduate degree in sport psychology.
If you're anything like me, then you've struggled with something in your climbing that has held you back from performance, fun, or both. After surviving an abusive climbing relationship, enduring many injuries and surgeries, and battling issues with chronic illness, I realized that my mental game was key for progression and enjoyment in climbing.
These trials led me to research climbing mental performance, try strategies on myself and the teams I've coached, and develop new ways of managing fear and thoughts while climbing. I want to help you master these concepts and discover your potential.
Many of the athletes I coach are paraclimbers and climbers with chronic illnesses; I understand what it’s like to train around limitations or health struggles. That’s why all of my coaching is fully custom. I listen to you and your needs so we can craft the best strategy for your goals.
Coaching is extremely rewarding, and I love helping athletes of all abilities and experience levels!
“I hired Fallon a year ago to help me prepare for the USA Climbing Paraclimbing National Championship. As expected, her training plans were thoughtful, detailed, and tailored to my individual needs. What truly set her apart from other coaches though was the mindset work she introduced. Through Stoic principles like self-compassion and focusing on what I can control, Fallon helped me grow not only as a climber, but as a person. The impact of her coaching has extended far beyond climbing into my career, relationships, and everyday life.”

Testimonials
“Working with Fallon has transformed my climbing. She brings a remarkably thoughtful approach to coaching — from taking the time to research the outdoor climbs I’m working on to helping me break big goals into tangible, actionable skills. Her guidance brought real intention to my training, replacing the unfocused “flailing” I used to do in the gym with a clear sense of purpose.
Fallon’s impact has been both physical and mental. I feel more focused and confident in my climbing, and that has translated directly into progress, including leading the highest trad grades I’ve led to date. She’s a pleasure to work with, and her care, preparation, and attention consistently show up in the way she coaches.”

“I have been gym climbing for about 4 years, and when I began climbing outside 2 years ago, I had a very tough transition mentally. I would often get stuck on the wall in fear, unable to climb above the clip, or bail at every top out bouldering. I found Fallon and was very happy with her emphasis on self-compassion and mental performance in climbing.
Working with Fallon has been great! She worked with me to develop a physical and mental training plan, meeting me where I was at, and customizing it for my own needs and goals. She has helped me to focus my climbing sessions more, which has helped me with overall physical strength, but more importantly, she has helped me approach climbing from a different lens, which has grown my overall mental strength. Using self compassion and growth mindset language, I have been able to go for moves and try things that I would have been too scared to try a few months ago.
I have started to accomplish one of my goals of sending V4 boulders outside thanks to Fallon! I have been confidently able to top out more and trust small feet to commit to more powerful moves, and I am able to work through the panic on the wall instead of bailing. Having Fallon's encouragement over calls or text messages has been extremely helpful. I could not be more grateful for her help!”

“I worked with Fallon coming out of 2 separate ankle injuries in the same year. It was challenging for me to fully get back into bouldering and lead climbing with the lingering fear of falling and injury. Fallon was instrumental in helping me overcome this by creating a straightforward yet challenging training routine that incorporated mindset/mental exercises.
Since working with Fallon, I’ve overcome most of my inhibitions post-injury — topping out boulders, leading sport projects — and am climbing in a much more mindful, self-compassionate way.”

“I picked up the sport of triathlon this past year and really struggled transitioning from pool swims to open water swims. My first three open water swims were almost entirely panic attacks. I was referred to Fallon for mindset coaching, and it was amazing what she was able to offer in just two sessions. Fallon immediately provided a safe space to unload my worry and frustration in exchange for sound advice, words of encouragement, and bits of Stoic philosophy. Fallon was able to guide me through exercises to address anxiety both before and during open water swims making me feel confident and prepared to tackle the challenge of a 1.2 mile swim required for a 70.3 Ironman.
In addition to helping me overcome fears around swimming, she also helped me create a race day mantra and mindset to keep me positive and moving forward when times inevitably got hard or things didn’t unfold as I wanted on course. I highly recommend Fallon to anyone battling an obstacle in the way of a big goal; even if it is just one session, you’ll walk away feeling a little lighter and more inspired.”

"I gained useful tools and techniques I've continued using on my own and seen a huge jump in progress. Fallon's coaching gave me a much more helpful perspective on facing my challenges than how I'd been thinking about it before working with her. The program was so thoughtfully tailored to work on the mindset I was struggling with - no cookie-cutter approach here.
The most valuable thing to my climbing practice was that we didn't just focus on the technical aspects of climbing, but really got to the root of my fears and concerns, developed tools to address them, and worked on putting all of that into practice. And it didn't end there. Fallon followed up with a program review I could (and do!) continually use as reference. She also followed up with me weeks later to check in and ask if I had any questions or anything I wanted to discuss. It felt really caring. 10/10 recommend working with Fallon!"

"I keep chipping away at the massive content you delivered me, trying to engrain it. I hear your voice in my head saying to do this or do that, or not do something else. You are such a good teacher, such a great coach! I had a goal of leading a 5.11a outside before the end of the year. I did it last Friday on a trip. It was so great to accomplish the goal - it was an onsight too.
But for your coaching and help, I don't think I would've progressed like I did. The way you explained things to me and helped me change was so helpful and satisfying. Thank you, Fallon!"

"I initially chose to work with Fallon because of her familiarity with and knowledge about climbing with chronic illness. Upon doing more research about her coaching philosophy, her focus on mental coaching and addressing fear in climbing solidified my decision to work with her. And I am so thankful that I was able to find someone who focuses on this side of training! I struggled with a lot of fear when climbing based in unrelated chronic illness and PTSD.
Fallon gave me tools to address these fears and honestly learn how to be more compassionate towards myself while climbing. When working through fear, Fallon taught me never to push myself too hard so that I never enter a "terror zone", which is counterproductive to making progress. With this tool and many others, I was able to go from being terrified of leading a 5.8 to confidently leading 5.11s outside in just a few months. Additionally, she gave me strength training routines that made me more comfortable using the gym equipment and helped me go from struggling on V5s to projecting V7s and 8s in a few months as well.
I think that most importantly, Fallon was extremely understanding and supportive -- the calls, Zoom meetings, and text message support she offered throughout our training plan helped me understand and trust my own strength in addition to the more objective sides of the training plan. Thank you Fallon!"

"I attended your clinic and I wanted to say how great the day was and how helpful I found all the info and tips. I've shared with so many friends already and took so many practice falls in the gym!
I’m seeing improvements in mindset just from more awareness and reframing, and I started a climbing journal too so I could set intentions and reflect afterwards. Thank you again and I really appreciated the experience!"
